Prime Rib Roast
Prime Rib Roast is a classic and luxurious cut of beef that’s often regarded as the centerpiece of an impressive holiday or special occasion meal. This premium roast comes from the rib section of the beef and is known for its exceptional tenderness, marbling, and rich flavor. Let’s learn how to make it!
Ingredients
- 1 bone-in prime rib roast (about 10-12 lbs)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
1
Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
2
In a small bowl, mix minced garlic, olive oil, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper to form a paste.
3
Pat the prime rib dry with paper towels and rub the garlic herb paste all over the meat.
4
Place the roast on a rack in a roasting pan, bone-side down.
5
Roast in the preheated oven for 15 minutes to sear the meat, then reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (165°C).
6
Roast for about 15-20 minutes per pound for medium-rare or until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the roast registers 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare or 145°F (63°C) for medium.
7
Remove the roast from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.
