Ingredients
- FOR THE APPLE FILLING
- 4 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
- FOR THE CRUMBLE TOPPING
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking dish and set aside.
In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using). Spread the apple mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
In another bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt. Add the cold butter cubes and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apple filling, making sure the apples are fully covered.
Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
Allow the Apple Crumble to cool for a few minutes before serving. It’s delicious on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
