Easy Roasted Thanksgiving Turkey


Ingredients
- 12 lb whole turkey, thawed or defrosted
- 2 garlic heads, sliced in half
- 1 lemon, cut in half
- 2 sprigs rosemary
- 2 sprigs thyme
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 3 dried bay leaves
- 4 oz unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

Instructions

Combine soften unsalted butter with dried basil, half of the olive oil, dried oregano, dried parsley, salt, and ground black pepper; set aside.

Place the garlic heads, lemon, rosemary sprigs, thyme sprigs, and remaining olive oil in the turkey cavity.

Rub the outside of the turkey with the herb-oil-butter mixture.

Place the turkey in a roasting pan lined with parchment paper.

Roast in the preheated oven for 30 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit uncovered.

Continue roasting the turkey for 1 hour at a reduced temperature at 320 degrees Fahrenheit.

Remove the turkey from the oven and cover it with a tin foil.

Let it rest for 20 minutes before carving.
